The Restaurant

In 1860, Ivy Terrace was built for £140, on part of a field belonging to Borth Farm. The land was owned by Baron Harlech who leased it for 60 years.

In 1911, Baron Harlech sold the house to John Robert Owen, who leased it to David Jones and then sold it to him in 1928. The house remained in the same family until 1945.

From 1946 to 1980, Mr and Mrs Tipps, who also owned 3 Ivy terrace, ran what was known as the “Igloo Café”

The name was changed to Blossoms by Mr and Mrs Baxter when they took it over in 1980. It then passed ownership 5 times. In 2006 Mr and Mrs Williams bought the property and changed it to its current name Moorings Bistro to relate with Borth-y-Gest nautical history.

Finally, in 2014, a partnership between three friends was created. Having all met whilst working in Portmeirion, we decided it was time to open our own place, and where better to be than this beautiful bay of Borth-y-Gest!
